If anyone can translate that for us it would be greatly appreciated.
An artist who uses Wingdings as their name, album titles, and track names. This is a first… for me at least!
Upon doing a bit of research into who this mysterious artist could be, I discovered that I am not the first one to stumble across ⣎⡇ꉺლ༽இ•̛)ྀ◞ ༎ຶ ༽ৣৢ؞ৢ؞ؖ ꉺლ, and to my astonishment it seems that none other than Four Tet started off his latest Spotify playlist with a track from them. Considering that Four Tet’s playlist was published in September of 2016, but the earliest release from ⣎⡇ꉺლ༽இ•̛)ྀ◞ ༎ຶ ༽ৣৢ؞ৢ؞ؖ ꉺლ on Bandcamp is October 30th, I’ve been left left scratching my head. According to ⣎⡇ꉺლ༽இ•̛)ྀ◞ ༎ຶ ༽ৣৢ؞ৢ؞ؖ ꉺლ‘s Bandcamp page they are located in Bukit, Brunei, which could be true because Four Tet’s Playlist focuses on artists that are located in parts of the world that Donald Trump has banned from entry into the United States. This alias could just be Kieran Hebden playing a prank on everyone, having some fun with his talents and the fabulous platform he’s created for himself as Four Tet, OR this could truly be a new creative entity.
Something that attracts me to a release like this is the fact that it isn’t ‘called’ anything, and you basically have to make up a name for it by yourself, which leaves the future of the tracks up to the public. It isn’t rooted in a certain language or existing culture, which with today’s culture of ‘social awareness’ is actually quite liberating. There isn’t any way that it could be considered ‘offensive’ or ‘appropriating’, because it barely has any existence in reality at all. It exists on its own plane, completely unique, thrown out into the world to find its own path, and to possibly lead the charge towards something totally different.
To ⣎⡇ꉺლ༽இ•̛)ྀ◞ ༎ຶ ༽ৣৢ؞ৢ؞ؖ ꉺლ whoever you are: if you are reading this, keep doing what you’re doing!
