Future Classic: Cliché. “3 quarters for a dollar, Vol.3”
I already talked about Cliché this summer but a new volume of his 3 quarters for a dollar series came out not too long ago.
It’s an interesting step up from previous work. The swing of the beats (groove or shuffle or what you like to call it) setting is very high on some tracks, at the limit of breaking the structure. But still it gives a nice human feeling to those beats, those unquantized drums. With this volume, Cliché. really outgrows the diminutive meaning of his name.
