Future Classic: Lion Babe “Treat Me Like Fire”

Every time we put out one of our MIMS Radio Shows, we always like to ask people what their favorite discoveries were. So after our #61 show (link) a few people answered that they loved Lion Babe’s “Treat Me Like Fire” so we figured we’d share it as a “future classic” selection.

“Lion Babe is the NYC-based duo of Jillian Hervey and Lucas Goodman. The name makes sense. Take one look at Jillian in the video below and you can see that not only is she a total babe, but the combination of her seductive dance moves and puffy afro mane make her seem like a modern lioness in the most literal of senses. But to dwell on Jillian’s looks would only cheapen what is at hand here, “Treat Me Like Fire” is a breath of fresh air. Lucas Goodman’s soulful beat takes us back to Motown records of old, while Jillian’s killer vocals remind us that this is indeed 2013 while recalling singers such as Kelis and Beyoncé. Dare we say that Lion Babe could be the United States’ answer to AlunaGeorge? Only time will tell I suppose. After hearing this track, we can’t wait to see what else is in store from these cats.” (via Plug Gods).
