Really strong 4 track EP by newcomer Andrew Scott aka NY*AK on the Fifty Fathoms Deep label, for fans of the moody slo-mo house vibe.
It’s a vibe that although we do love every now and then, is a bit frustrating to follow as is it a bit difficult to separate the bad, the average from the truly great. I rarely do many hours of research of releases of this genre because 90% are far from memorable either. (Sometimes average records are more frustrating than awful ones)
This EP is stood out right away from the immense “to-listen” pile. I was immediately drawn in to the opening track called “Oddity” which has just the perfect amount of subtle drums, vocal samples and warm chords. The 3 other tracks are at the same level of quality and make this an EP to own on vinyl!
The kind of EP I can see myself playing alongside productions from Grooveman Spot, 6th Borough Project, The Mole, Floating Points and so on. NY*AK is definitely a name to watch out for!
