Mr. Beatnick is one of our favourite electronic producers of the past few years. One who always delivers top-shelf material, yet he is still a pretty underrated artist. He has some killer releases on the Don’t Be Afraid label as well as a radio show on NTS.
A very versatile producer that can cover a lot of ground from downtempo to the dance floor while always keeping a very abstract, moody and almost melancholic sound. Mr. Beatnick is a low-key guy that let’s the music speak for itself. (Something we prefer to artists who feel the need to release 15 tracks a month)
“Ice Cream Strut” starts out with crisp drums and some killer synths and half-way into the song, the beautiful strings come in, something that Mr. Beatnick has been using with some other great tracks like “Synthetes”. It also has some really nice parts with the”Broken Beat” feel to it, a scene and style that is finally making a comeback.
This is one for the Deep Heads. Like Pepe Bradock and 4Hero working on a record together.
