Future Classic: The Old Writer “Spirits In The Basements EP” (Home Of House Records)
The Old Writer is discretely coming back with his second release on his own, Home of House imprint. Discrete in the sense that no hype was associated with it.
Just a strong EP of timeless House music that will appeal to the ones who dig deep through all the generic tracks being pressed on vinyl at the moment. The type of EP that finally stands tall next to the 98 ones you listened too before, totally uninterested, two seconds each, leaving you wondering why you’re keeping searching for quality House music in 2015.
Just like his previous release, The Old Writer brings us original productions played live and avoiding any form of sampling. It’s really hard to pick a favorite track here, all three of them carry a very different and distinct atmosphere.
From perfect late night feel to beautiful atmospheric and introspective sensibilities, the music here sounds like it could have been recorded in 1992 or just yesterday which is a good sign for me. Referencing sonorities covering the whole spectrum of Deep House, this EP makes me think of essential records from both classic Italians or Americans labels. Try it and get lost into the deepness…
