If you’ve read my past posts your no “stranger” to the fact I love the classic “soul groups” and that one of my favorite varieties is Kiddie Soul aka Jackson 5 clones. Well orchestrated angelic voices singing about puppy love was the hot selling material back in the 60s and when the Jackson 5 took that sound to the next level, many labels followed suite trying to capture that sucsess.
Matthew Africa (who tragically passed a few years ago) put together the ultimate mix of the genre for the Fader’s Vinyl Archeology column. This mix is chock full of energy and extremely well arranged songs that will bring a ray of sunshine to any day and a smile on everyone’s face. Highly recommended for kid’s parties this is one the discerning listener will also appreciate! Funky kids, rare cuts and sweet soul what’s not to love!
