I was introduced to the London artist Jackson James Bailey’s outstanding work in 2011 when I bought a mysterious 7′ on a label called Seletah Waddah. The track was called “Old Pan Riddim” under the artist name TAPES and I was instantly captivated by the lo-fi electronica meeting the digital-dub sound.
Great news came this week as the fine Japanese label EM Records has just put out a album / compilation comprised of 16 of TAPES‘ finest moments. The album features 6 new tracks and 10 previously released but since most of these are pretty hard to find it makes the album a must-have.
Here are previews of the 16 tracks, we highly suggest you scoop that up on glorious 2LP here.
And there’s even better news: London-label Honest Jons is will be releasing an album of Tapes’ new material.
