At a time where you often have to try and scream louder than the next person in hopes of getting your content noticed, some people do the complete opposite. Focus on the quality of the product, release with 0 hype and hope that it somehow resonates through all the clutter.
The Brooklyn emcee Scienze and his “A Travelling Man” is so fantastic that it just leapt off my “to-listen” feed today. I did not know him before I listened to (and instantly bought) his most recent EP but I can’t wait to dig into his archives.
I will admit that the first thing that caught my attention is the clever use of one of my favorite samples around, the great German rare groove by Hildergard Knef . “Gondwana Jungle” is a really solid production by Belgium’s Shungu (who I also didn’t know about) and he also produces the full 7 track EP. “Travelling Man vol.4” is one of the best marriages of MC + Producer I’ve heard in a while.
