Matthewdavid’s own Leaving Records brings the heat once again with Kiefer’s debut LP “Kickinit Alone”
Californian keyboardist & beatmaker Kiefer (birthname Kiefer Shackelford) drops his debut LP on Leaving Records, which has “enough jazz piano chops to transform L.A.’s Low End Theory into a smokey speak easy.”
Kiefer Shackleford is a classically trained pianist with a Hip Hop state of mind. He has recently been touring with Mndsgn‘s live trio playing keys alongside Ringgo and Swarvy. It is a such a surprise that this is the first that we have been hearing of him, because this man has some mad talent! Like anything, you can seriously tell when someone knows what they are doing, and Kiefer is definitely one of those individuals. He makes everything seem completely effortless, letting the listener chill out to some expertly-constructed Hip Hop infused Jazz tunes tunes (or Jazz infused Hip Hop tunes?). Either way, this is a must have for any Hip Hop or Jazz lover alike!
