MY FAVORITE THINGS — Show #26 w/ Nat Birchall (Hosted by Psycut)

Hi Everybody, it’s good to see you there for a new My Favorite Things with a very special guest, one of my favorite Contemporary Jazz musicians, Nat Birchall.

I opened the show with a great Lebanese track compiled by Habibi Funk for a tribute to Beyruth, called “Villes invisibles”. Then the first part of this mix contains tunes recently appears with artists we know very well here like Tall Black Guy, Idris Ackamoor, Kamaal Williams and Carlos Garnett for his great come back.

For his hour of favorite tracks, Nat Birchall put together a lovely selection including Reggae cuts (Tommy McCook, Augustus Pablo & King Tubby) and spiritual Jazz tracks (John Coltrane, Sun Ra, Byard Lancaster) to finish with a taste of his brand new LP.

The last part of my mix starts with the last project of Sir Paul Murphy “Take Vibe E.P.”, a great future jazz dance classic, and some uptempo fusion and broken beat nuggets like Deborah Jordan remixed by Kaidi Tatham, Mausiki Scales, Setwun and Jerk.
