Exclusive Premiere: Sahra Gure “Leave Me” (Neue Grafik Rework)
Music Is My Sanctuary is very excited to premiere this fresh-out-the-box Neue Grafik rework of “Leave Me”, a beautiful song from one our absolute favourite new voices, Sahra Gure. Released this Friday, June 5th, only on Bandcamp as a special release on Bandcamp revenue waive day.
“Leave Me” is a slow ballad exploring anger and depression. The haunting vocals and repetition mirror the cyclical, emotional downward spiral many find themselves in when experiencing depression. London-based French producer, Neue Grafik (Rhythm Section, TRC, Beat X Changers, CoOp Presents), adds a solemn depth on this very special remix blissfully echoing the ethereal vocals with his deep, exuberant blend of lo-fi hip hop beats and jazz.
Sahra adds, ““Leave me” was written on reflection of loosing someone extremely close to me. Loss is so complicated but whilst writing this I began to see the importance of acknowledging my mistakes without wallowing in self pity. I think that’s something we as humans find hard. It’s easy to acknowledge mistakes, it’s difficult to change our behaviour.”
The original track is taken from ‘Love Me, With Me,’ Sahra’s debut EP. Written and produced by herself and recorded live with her band at Soup Studios, London. ‘Love Me With Me’ is an organic project which takes listeners on a journey through the 7 stages of grief: shock, denial, guilt anger, depression, reconstruction and acceptance.
