Fun Fact: Lauryn Hill was 20yrs old when The Fugees’ The Score dropped. That really puts the idea of ‘young’ in perspective cause let’s be real those were definitely not some juvenile lyrics that she brought to the table. I guess it could be argued that Lauyrn Hill was some kind of prodigy child and that her kind of talent is one in a billion but I know some seriously skilled youth that make that theory questionable.
Earlier this week, Elonskee, Generale Q and Truth Vybez from Black Glovez released a new track and video ‘La Cypher’ ft. Aiza. This remix of ‘Fu-gee-la’ is one the most lyrically agile tracks I’ve heard in a long time. These NDG cats are super on point on their rhyming, metaphors, referencing and most importantly FLOW! It’s one thing to be able to write some killer lyrics but to spit word heavy verses so crisply on a zealous beat shows next level skill.
The video itself is brought to us by elonskeetv and stays true to the ‘Fu-gee-la’ heist video style with a nice touch of Montreal Reppin’ throughout. It’s made nice to see these young artists not only kill a track but also be in charge of their promotion and image. We live in some ground changing times my friends.
Montreal youth is bringing it hard whether you Ready or Not.
I suggest you get ready.
