It’s pretty fair to say that Deep 88 is a very prolific producer. After numerous 12″ and 3 full length albums, he’s back with “The Black Album“.
The feel here is pure. The music being created with vintage gears sounds authentic instead of being a copycat of tracks and feels already done in the past. Delicates sonic soundscapes are ranging from the mid 80’s to the present. From the Italian balearic roots to the deep sounds of New York / New Jersey and to some heavy Chicago influence, the whole album flows smoothly. From lush late night / early morning tracks to dirty acid-ish tracks, the whole picture is complete.
Exploring many shades of the Deep House movement, Deep 88 creates a very cohesive album instead of a bunch of tracks thrown together like it’s often the case with the very perilous House music LP exercise. A very warm and peaceful listening.
