Dela returns for his third release in as many years. After “Changes of Atmosphere” in 2009 on Fatbeats, the “Robert Glasper Beat Tape” in 2010 he now release his second official record called “Translation Lost”. On top of being a ridiculously dope producer whose jazzy chops and sharp snares conjure warm thoughts of the golden era of rap music, Dela is also a very good friend of mine.
I’m very happy to hear the record for the first time as i’m typing this because I was probably one of the first out there to hear these tracks. We did an MPC session in my studio two years ago where he made me listen to most of these beats. After failing in my evil plan of stealing his MPC memory card I’ve had to wait like everyone else.
It was worth the wait! While “Changes of Atmosphere” had guest mc’s on every track, “Translation Lost” is a half instrumental, half-vocal affair. A lot of up coming MC’s will be really happy to jump on tracks like “West Side Story” and “Mars pt.III” but i’m just happy bobbing my head to them. Oh, and did I mention there are two tracks featuring my favorite emcee of recent years, California’s BLU.
An absolute must buy! – Purchase record on Bandcamp for 7,99$
