It is our absolute pleasure to share with you an exclusive remix from one of the jazz tunes that is on everyone’s playlist this summer! Lady Blackbird gets the remix treatment for our talented friend, multi-instrumentalist/producer, Emma Jean-Thackray.

“Since the release of Lady Blackbird’s debut single, a cover of Nina Simone’s powerful civil rights anthem “Blackbird”, the US vocalist has become regarded as one of the most exciting new artists on the global jazz scene. The single was supported widely across UK radio including by the BBC’s Gilles Peterson, who hailed Lady Blackbird as “the Grace Jones of jazz” and “a singer that blew my mind”, and today sees the release of a new remix of the track from revered UK producer Emma-Jean Thackray. Thackray, one of the leading lights of London’s current jazz scene, has made a name for herself as a ground-breaking multi-instrumentalist, band-leader and DJ.

Lady Blackbird’s forthcoming debut album Black Acid Soul, which was produced by Chris Seefried and features a stellar band including former Miles Davis pianist Deron Johnson, is set for release in the autumn and presents a wholly fresh take on the jazz vocal idiom from an artist blessed with a bold, unmistakeable voice.”
