Sometimes I ask myself how come I stumble upon new music that fits my mood so well at a given time. How did I find something as mysterious as The North by Canadian (I guess) beatmaker Bix.I mean, I can’t find any information on him and there is no revealing guest on the record. The heavy analog synth project is perfect for my mood right now and made me think of an harder Clams Casino without the high profile name feats.
Judging by the album and song titles (as I always should do), we could expect four albums, one for each cardinal point. This one is obviously representing the north with its ambiant instrumental hiphop made with analog synths and hard sampled drums. The result isn’t as cold as winter but as hard as the wildlife the song titles hint to. It seems to fit that the synth work creates simple but hard and haunting melodies.
