Future Classic: RAJA “The October Series Trilogy” (Astro Nautico)
Once again, another we discovered a little genius in the making. RAJA is a beatmaker from NYC, is only 19 and he already found time to do collabos with Jeremiah Jae from Brainfeeder. Reminds of Shlohmo who began making beats at 14 or Noo-Bap, a guy from Montreal who is just 17. Very interesting to see what these young kids have to bring to the game. I can’t wait to see those guys at 25 and how their music is going to grow.
As I was saying, RAJA is on the Astro Nautico label and his EPs have a smooth cosmic loungey sound. Red is the first part of a trilogy along with Witch and Color. Each EP has its own vibe. Witch has more accoustic samples and female voices, Color is probably the most personal release by RAJA so far and Red is the most related to the post-rap era such as Dilla and Madlib. All dope in their own way!
