Future Classic: Istolethesoul “Around Sounds”

Koray Ozel, Toronto-based DJ and lover of all music, is pleased to announce the launch of his new label, Istolethesoul Records, and the release of its inaugural compilation simply titled, Around Sounds.

A self-described “music enthusiast who loves to share new discoveries with like-minded people”, Koray aspires to curate beautiful and meaningful releases with talented artists from around the world that highlight the sounds around him.

Speaking to him, one quickly learns that his conversational tangents parallel his musical tastes: they’re all over the place. However, it becomes unmistakably clear that he has an unadulterated love of music and the art of sound. This love has manifested itself in the establishment of Istolethesoul Records, a place where both unsigned and signed artists of various genres can come together. Istolethesoul is a passion project that has evolved over the years and come full circle. From his early days as a casual DJ playing small rooms using CDJs, to becoming the proud collector of a robust selection of vinyl, he returns to his love of making mixes—hand-picking an assortment of music for distribution to a wider audience through Istolethesoul with an emphasis on promoting underground artists.

Around Sounds brings together artists who represent underground Soul, R&B, Funk, and Hip-Hop. Around Sounds is a pretty sweet record that features: HARRISON, allie, Apollo Campbell & Sabryn Rock, Bakura feat. Amalia, Bird, BUeLLER, Cutty Lark, Catalist feat. Zaki Ibrahim, KeishaLeisha & New Brazilian Orchestra, Maloo, the Precious Lo’s, Splxsh and Sunclef.
