I’ve been listening to this mix as a reading/Sunday morning clean-up companion for months now. Effectively living up to his name, the homie John-John dug up some massive nugs and fashioned this mix for us the way a master goldsmith would assemble his finest engagement ring: with a keen eye for quality material and the steady hand of a seasoned veteran. As I’d previously mentioned in the Crema Púrpura article, there are a couple of major players in Latin America’s musical heritage that, due to their own machinations, leave many countries’ local scenes up to their own devices. Beautiful Argentina has produced numerous top-notch bands that were unable to break out on an international scale. This compilation is a homage to the forgotten but never lost, and the love that is left in their wake.
