“This mix was inspired by the emerging scene of artists coming out of Cuba’s musical hotspots heralded by the likes of the Guampara label, as well as the recent Havana Cultura compilation “Subelo Cuba” both of which reflect the place where Afro-Cuban rhythms, Hip Hop, Jazz and electronic music collides. Featuring tracks from most of the Guampara artists like DJ Jigue, El Individuo & Niño Fony and some leaders of the new school Funk and Hip Hop scene like Telmary, Interactivo and Kumar Sublevao as well as forward thinking Afro-Cuban inspired music from Puerto Rico, US and European acts like ÍFÉ, (U)nity, Soundspecies and Eliane Correa & En El Aire, and throwing in a nod to the old school ‘Futuristic Cuban’ sounds of Irakere – which will always stand the test of time!”
