Since the passing of James Yancey, Montreal’s kept in line with other major cities and held its share of events commemorating the man’s catalog around this time of year and while our DJs have always been able to hang with the best of them, never did we have an official seal of approval from the Dilla Foundation, until now.
On February 7 (Dilla’s date of birth, no less), our hometown will have its turn to serve up the sweetest donuts, courtesy of chief bakers Toast Dawg, Ephiks, Sev Dee, Dr. MaD and Manzo at Inspecteur Épingle, 4051 St-Hubert. Hosted by Illa J, who is an honorary Montrealer until further notice, get ready to celebrate the legacy of one of the most influential, venerated producers in hip-hop history.
