“THROW EM UP” is a project created in 2011 by ONRA, great French producer (Long Distance, Chinoiseries and others) and LEXIS, Montreal-based DJ and founder of Music Is My Sanctuary / 24 Hours of Vinyl. It is a project entirely dedicated to a brief period in R&B of the mid-90’s. A period that followed the “new jack swing” sound which was faster and more dance oriented, it was followed by the heavy influence on classic hip-hop “boom bap” of the 90’s mixed with urban soulful music. “THROW EM UP” is also a reference to the way you could see people dance in all those classic videos.
This sound that both ONRA& LEXIS love has since seen two mixtapes called THROW EM UP Vol. 1 & 2 which both had worldwide success, thousands of downloads and praise from sites like Fools Gold, Ego Trip, Okay Future and others.
For the first time, they are taking the concept on the road (Montreal, Vancouver and Ottawa) where they will be sharing tons of forgotten treasures with some classics from the THROW EM UP era!
