Video Premiere: Snooch Dodd & The Pro-Teens “I Flip My Life Every Time I Fly”
MIMS is excited to share the wonderful animated video, created by Jon DiNapoli and Harrison Ritchie-Jones, for Snooch Dodd & The Pro-Teens “I Flip My Life Every Time I Fly”, the title track from their recent album on College Of Knowledge Records.
Pro-Teens is a studio project led by prolific Karate Boogaloo drummer Hudson Whitlock. Shrouded in anonymity, The Pro-Teens are made up of a collective of Melbourne instrumentalists, with interchangeable members coming from bands such as Karate Boogaloo and Surprise Chef, performing under synonyms.
The vido for “I Flip My Life Every Time I Fly” was created by the Melbourne-based collaborative duo of animator Jon DiNapoli and dancer Harrison Ritchie-Jones.
On the clip, DiNapoli says: “Set at the end of a long day, when shadows and lights do their twilight thing. Providing a landscape for ‘I Flip My Life…’ was a process of thinking, playing and imagining through the body.
To create the clip, we animated over live action footage of Harrison’s body in motion, and then placed the figure within imagined landscapes. We were immediately drawn to a sense of movement in the song and this constant interplay of brooding and calm. There is also a contemplative quality to the track, a feeling of being half lost in thought, with one side of the brain processing the material world and the other completely lost in the magical.”
